MASHAIRI YA MAPENZI

[1]
Mapenzi kitu ajabu, yakutia bumbuwazi
Yakufanya uwe bubu, kujibu huwa huwezi
Shubiri kwako zabibu, na vitamu huviwezi.

[2]
Wamkuta kaemewa, asemayo hayajuwi
Aumba akiumbuwa, aona maruwiruwi
Vigumu kumuopowa, na kwa ngisi kumvuwi.

[3]
Hukumbuka ya zamani, yote walofanyiana
Nyumbani barabarani, ayaona kama jana
Akili yake ya nyani, aruka inagongana.

[4]
Wangoja nyota ya jaha, kutwa wewe unahaha
Mawazo yako silaha, akukwaaye usaha
Usifanyiwe msaha, waugeuza karaha.

[5]
Kalelewa kaleleka, utani kwake ni mwiko
Njiani yeye na kaka, hapokei mualiko
Ghadhabu zake za paka, hapendi maziko.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS MUHARRAM??

Today being 29th of Dhul hijjah 1427, end of this
year, sighting for crescent to commence our islamic
New Year of Muharram 1428, let's see what happened in
in the first ten days of muharram in history:

MARTYRDOM

The tenth of Muharram is observed by many as the day
of Shahaadat-e-Husain (RA). Special gatherings are
held wherein the heart-rending incident of the
martyrdom of Sayyidina Husain (RA) is mentioned. This
aspect is discussed in this article.

SAYYIDINA HUSAIN (R.A.)

It was on the tenth of Muharram that Sayyidina Husain
(R.A.) was mercilessly martyred. Before his very eyes
scores of his immediate family also tasted from the
cup of martyrdom. Finally he joined them. His noble
head was then severed from his body. The various
details of this tragic incident are too gruesome to
comprehend. One could cry tears of blood.

SAYYIDINA UMAR (R.A.)

While leading the Fajr Salaah, Hazrath Umar (R.A.) was
stabbed six times by a fire-worshipper. He fell to the
ground unable to continue with the Salaah. Hadhrat
Abdur Rahman bin Auf (R.A.) then lead the Salaah and
completed it. Hadhrat Umar (R.A.) was then carried to
his house. The wounds however proved fatal and on the
first of Muharram he bade farewell to this temporary
world.

SAYYlDINA UTHMAN (R.A.)

Likewise the third Caliph of Islam, the son in-law of
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam), Hadhrath
Uthman (R.A.) was also brutally martyred. When the
enemy besieged his house, for days he was unable to
even get any water from the well which he had
purchased and gifted to everybody to use at liberty.
On Friday the eighteenth of Zil Hijjah, the enemy
finally broke into his home. Hadhrat Usmani (R.A.) was
at that time reciting the Holy Quran. However no mercy
was shown to him and his blood was spilt onto the
pages of the Book Of Allah. He also joined his
predecessors in Jannah.

HAZRATH HAMZA (R.A.)

Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa-sallam) also
witnessed some heart-rending martyrdoms. His beloved
uncle, Hazrath Hamza (RA.) was martyred in the battle
of Uhud. After he was martyred, his body was defiled
and severely mutilated. His ears and nose were cut
off. The body of the beloved uncle of Rasulullah
(Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was then ripped open and
his liver removed. This was then taken away to be
chewed. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was
greatly disturbed and grieved over this. So great was
his grief that when the killer of Hamza (R.A.)
accepted Islam, Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam) requested him not to come in front of him as
this would remind him of his uncle and bring back the
grief.

BIR-MA'OONA

The battle of Bir Ma'oona is yet another incident of
the great Sahaaba (R.A.) laying down their lives for
the cause of Deen. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam) was requested to send some of his companions
to teach the people of Najd [NOW PARTS OF RIYADH &
JEDDAH - WHERE ALL WAHABISM COME FROM] . Upon this
request Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) sent
seventy people who were all Huffaaz and qurra (plural
of Qari). On the way they were attacked and almost all
were martyred. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)
was once again greatly grieved and for one month in
the Fajr Salaah cursed these people who had deceived
and martyred his beloved companions so mercilessly.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED IN THE FIRST TEN DAYS OF
MUHARRAM, THAT RECQUIRES ALL MUSLIMS TO MOURN AND
REMEMBER THE HISTORY OF ISLAM, NOT JUST TO WAIT FOR
WESTERN NEW YEARS AND CELEBRATE, JUST BECAUSE THEY DO
IT.

WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST IN OUR ISLAMIC NEW YEAR.

To All Muslim Brothers and Sisters

Prophet Muhammad (saw) Sermon on welcoming the Holy Month of Ramadhan
O People! The month of Allah (Ramadhan) has approached you with His mercy and blessings. This is the month that is the best of all months in the estimation of Allah. Its days are the best among the days; its nights are the best among the nights. Its hours are the best among the hours.

This is a month in which he has invited you. You have been, in this month, selected as the recipients of the honors of Allah, the Merciful. In this holy month, when you breathe, it has the thawab of ‘Tasbeeh’ and your sleep has the thawab of worship.

Your good deeds are accepted in this month. So are your invocations. Therefore, you must invoke your Lord, in right earnest, with hearts that are free from sins and evils, that Allah may bless you, observe fast, in this month, and recite the Holy Quran.

Verily! The person who may not receive the mercy and benevolence of Allah in this month must be very unfortunate having an end as bad (in the Hereafter). While fasting, remember the hunger and thirst of tomorrow in Qiyamat. Give alms to the poor and the needy. Pay respects to your elders.

Have pity on those younger than you and be kind towards your relatives and kinsmen. Guard your tongues against unworthy words, and your eyes from such scenes that are not worth seeing (forbidden) and your ears from such sounds that should not be heard by you .

Be kind to orphans so that when your children become orphans they also may be treated with kindness. Do invoke that Allah may forgive your sins. Do raise your hands at the time of Swalaat, as it is the best time for asking His mercy. When we invoke at such times, we are answered by Him, when we call Him, He responds, and when we ask for anything, it is accepted by Him.

O People! You have made your conscience the slave of your desires; make it free by invoking Him for Istighfar (repentance). Your back is breaking under the heavy load of your sins, so prostrate before Him for long intervals and make it lighter.

Do understand fully well that Allah has promised in the name of His Majesty and Honor that He will not take to task such people who fast and offer Salat in this month and perform 'sajda' , and will guard their bodies against the Fire of Hell on the Day of Judgment.

O People! If anybody amongst you arranges for the 'Iftaar' of any believer, then Allah will give him a reward as if he has set free a slave. He will forgive his minor sins.

Then the companions of Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: "But everybody amongst us does not have the means to do so?"

Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) told them: - Keep yourself away from the Fire of Hell, by inviting for 'Iftaar', though it may consist of only half a date or simply with
water if you have nothing else. O People! Anybody who may cultivate good manners in this month will walk over the 'Siraat' (Bridge) in 'Qiyaamat', though his feet may be shaking.

Anybody who in this month may make light work for his servants (male or female), Allah will make easy his accounting on the Day of Judgment.

Anybody who does not tease others in this month, Allah will keep him safe from His wrath in Qiyaamat. Anybody, who respects and treats an orphan with kindness in this month, Allah shall look at him with dignity in Qiyaamat. Anybody who treats well his kinsmen, in this month, Allah will bestow His mercy on him in Qiyaamat, while anybody who maltreats his kinsmen in this month, Allah will keep him away from His mercy, in Qiyaamat.

Whoever offers 'Sunnat' (Recommended) prayers in this month, Allah will give him a certificate of freedom from Hell. Whosoever offers one 'Waajib' prayers in this month, for him the Angels will write the rewards of 70 such prayers, which were offered by him in any other months.

Whosoever invokes repeatedly 'Swalawaat' on me, Allah will keep the scales of his deeds heavy, when in Qiyaamat the scales of others will be tending towards lightness.

Whosoever recites in this month even one 'Aayat' (verse of the Holy Quran), he will be rewarded in a manner as if he had recited the full Holy Quran in the other months.

O People! The Gates of Paradise remain opened in this month. Do invoke that the gates may not be closed on you, while the Gates of Hell are closed. Do invoke that these gates may never be opened. During this month Shaytwaan is imprisoned so ask your Lord not to let him have power over you.
